Last year, we gave you some tips about where to travel around our great state. But there’s a big part of that story that we didn’t cover: where to stay! There are lots of great campgrounds around Kentucky to help you feel right at home while you’re on the road. Trust us, even if you have the perfect RV, the campground itself can make a big difference in your experience. That’s why Day Bros. RV Sales – London has provided some of our favorite RV campgrounds. Check them out and then let us know what you think by stopping by our location in London, near Lexington and Louisville.
Whispering Hills RV Park
East of Churchill Downs (our first stop on our original itinerary), you’ll find Whispering Hills RV Park, a large, well-manicured RV park that offers a fantastic community and relaxing amenities. These amenities include a basketball court, swimming pool, playground, pavilion and picnic tables, book exchange, DVD rentals, and so much more! They also offer full hookups and are even a Good Sam Park, offering discounts to members.
You’ll also be near some fantastic attractions, including the ARK Encounter, a full-scale replica of Noah’s Ark. You’ll learn more about the biblical story and what would have taken place during the Flood. You’ll also want to check out the Veterans Memorial Wildlife Park, where you can hunt, fish, and hike. Historic Georgetown is just a short drive away and offers antique stores, walking routes, and over 200 buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. There’s even the Whispering Wood Riding Stables for those interested in horseback riding.
Cave Country RV Campground
For those traveling south to Mammoth Cave National Park, you’ll want to check out Cave Country RV Campground. Just five miles from Mammoth Caves, this campground offers a wide range of amenities to help you and your family relax and enjoy every moment of your vacation. This includes a fenced-in dog park, game and fitness room, clubhouse and pavilion, full bathhouses, and even a camp store. They also offer big-rig-friendly sites and full hookups. Their beautiful grounds will have you wishing you never needed to leave.
When you’re looking to spend the day away from your camper, you’ll of course need to stop by the Mammoth Caves, but there’s so much more to do in the area. The National Corvette Museum gives a complete history on this iconic American sports car. The Kentucky Antique Trail has several stops in the area, where you can find trinkets and items with inspiring history. For some thrilling fun for the whole family, check out the Kentucky Action Park for ziplines, go-karts, mini golf, and more. There’s no shortage of things to do when you stay here.
Singing Hills RV Park
Near Abraham Lincoln’s historic home, there’s Singing Hills RV Park & Campground. Here, you’ll enjoy lots of great activities, like horseshoe pits, volleyball and basketball equipment, and even a USA and world map available so you can claim your hometown. There’s also a small RV parts store, rental bamboo fishing poles, and a catch & release pond, no fishing license required.
Just outside the campground, you’ll find even more things to do. Check out Chasers’ Kentucky Chocolates, one of the regions best chocolatiers. You can also explore the Historic Diamond Caverns, as well as the other intricate cave systems in the area, each displaying breathtaking caverns and stunning natural beauty. For a little above-ground fun, check out Dinosaur World! This offers fun for the whole family with life-sized models and fossil displays of prehistoric beasts.
When you’re talking about Kentucky, the sky’s the limit to what you can do and discover here. And you might find that the best way to explore the region is by RV. If you’d like to check out our RVs for sale, stop by Day Bros. RV – London and we’ll give you the complete tour. We also welcome patrons from Lexington and Louisville.
